Middle School receives grant from PPG

Cloverleaf Middle School is proud to have been awarded an Innovative Classroom Grant from PPG Industries. The grant program is designed to support educational projects related to science, technology, engineering or math with the goal of sparking student interest and achievement in those areas.

CMS science teacher Bobie Jo Carson applied for the grant, which will be used to purchase four K’NEX educational sets. Each set is a building system of interconnecting plastic rods and components such as gears and wheels. Seventh- and eighth-grade science students will apply laws of physics and motion to construct, test and analyze a variety of mechanisms.

The grant was presented to Carson and CMS Principal Brian Madigan on Oct. 2 by Donald Smith, Water-Based Processes Manager for PPG Industries in Cleveland, which produces paints for the automotive industry.

Cloverleaf Schools is grateful to Smith and to PPG Industries for providing students with this exciting opportunity for hands-on learning.
